Place the decimal point between the first two digits to get 7.6485

Now move the decimal 4 places to the right (to get back to the original number).

So the base is 7.6485 and the exponent is 4


This means that

76,485 = 7.6485 x 10^4

Move the decimal point until it is between the first and second digits on the left hand side of your given number. Count the number of places you moved the decimal point. Write your number with the decimal point in its new position folowed by where is the number of places you moved the decimal point.
