You can put this solution on YOUR website! A magazine is printing an article that has 21 pages. The article has to be 48,000 words. Large print is 1800 words per page and small print is 2400 words per page. How many pages are small print? Let pages of small print be: x
 Then the rest of the 21 pages is large print: 21-x
 The words per page of small print is: 2400x
 The words per page of large print is: 1800(21-x)
 Add all the words together and you have: 48,000
 Problem to solve:
 2,400x+1,800(21-x)=48,000
 2,400x+37,800-1,800x=48,000
 600x+37,800=48,000
 600x+37,800-37,800=48,000-37,800
 600x=10,200
 600x/600=10,200/600
 x=17
 That means that 17 pages were small print.
 (There were 21-17=4pages of large print, but they didn't ask that.)
 Sanity check, does 17 pages of small print and 4 pages of large print add up to 48,000 words?
 2,400(17)+1,800(4)=48,000 ?
 40,800+7,200=48,000
 48,000=48,000  Looks sane to me.
 Happy Calculating!!!
