You can put this solution on YOUR website!
an investor bought 400 shares of stock, some at $4.50 per share and some at $7.50 per share. If the total cost was $2,100.00, how many shares of each stock did the investor buy? |
--------------------------
Let X = Number of SHARES at $4.5
Let Y = Number of SHARES at $7.5

X + Y = 400
4.5X + 7.5Y = 2100

X = 400 - Y

4.5(400 - Y) + 7.5Y = 2100
1800 - 4.5Y + 7.5Y = 2100

3Y = 300

Y = 100

X = 300
