You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi, there--
.
Add. Simplify if possible.
.
%282%2Fvz%5E2%29+%2B+%289%2Fv%5E2z%29
.
Even though you have a couple of variables here, you are basically adding together to fractions. Just like in elementary school, in order to add fractions they must have the same denominator.
.
I notice that fractions have the variables v and z raised to different powers in the denominator. I can pretty easily make a common denominator of v%5E2z%5E2 . Multiply the first fraction by v/v and multiply the second fraction by z/z.
.
%282%2Fvz%5E2%29%2A%28v%2Fv%29%2B%289%2Fv%5E2z%29%2A%28z%2Fz%29
.
Simplify by combining like terms. Remember, when we multiply exponential expressions we add the exponents.
.
2v%2Fv%5E2z%5E2%2B9z%2Fv%5E2z%5E2
.
Now we add two fractions with the same denominator. Add the numerators; the denominators stay the same.
.
%282v%2B9x%29%2Fv%5E2z%5E2
.
Hope this helps. Feel free to email if there's any part that doesn't make sense yet.
