Four times the firsthighlight%28x%2B4%29is 2 less than 6 times the secondhighlight%28x%29. ***

 4(x+4) = 6x - 2

  4x + 16 = 6x - 2

       18 = 2x

       x = 9, the second number.  The first is 13.
