Question 619220: Joe can do a job in 12 days after he has worked for 4 days he is joined by Casey and it takes them 2 days working together to finish the job. How long would it take Casey to do the whole job herself.
THIS IS WHAT I DID
Joe time + Casey time = both working together, but they only do 1/2 the job in a day
4(1/12) + 1/X = (1 - 4/12)/2
I get an answer of no solution so my problem must be set up wrong. Can you help?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Joe finished 1/3 of the job before Casey came, so they finished 2/3 together

(2/12) + (2/C) = 2/3

in the 2 days they work together, Joe does another 1/6 of the job (so he does 1/2 total)
___ this means Casey does 1/2 of the job in 2 days
