You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A group of chemists are conducting an experiment to produce a new liquid material. Chemical A contains 15% sodium and the Chemical B contains 30% sodium. They mix the two samples, obtaining 600ml of a new chemical containing 22% sodium.
.
Let x = amount (ml) of 15% sodium
then
600-x = amount (ml) of 30% sodium
.
.15x + .30(600-x) = .22(600)
.15x + 180-.30x = 132
180-.15x = 132
-.15x = -48
x = 320 ml of 15% sodium
.
30% sodium:
600-x = 600-320 = 280 ml
