The ages of three siblings are consecutive odd integers. The difference in the ages between three times the age of the younger child and the age of the middle child is one more than the age of the oldest. How old is the oldest child?
----
1st: 2x-1
2nd: 2x+1
3rd: 2x+3
------------------
Equation:
3(2x-1)-(2x+1) = 2x+3 + 1
------
6x-3-2x-1 = 2x+4
4x-4 2x+4
2x = 8
x = 4
oldest = 2x+3 = 8+3 = 11 yrs.
