I don't know about the "four-step" process, but here goes!
Before the exchange of money, Jennifer had $11x and Rachel had $7x.
After the exchange, Jennifer had $11x-20 and Jenifer had $7x%2B20 and these last two amounts are equal, so
11x-20+=+7x%2B20 Simplify.
4x+=40 Divide by 4.
x+=+10
Originally, Jennifer had $11x = $110.00
Rachel had $7x = $70.00
