You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the given equation for the indicated variable.
7x - 5y = 2(x+1);x
.
7x - 5y = 2(x+1)
distributing the right side:
7x - 5y = 2x+2
subtract 2x from both sides:
5x - 5y = 2
add 5y to both sides:
5x = 5y+2
divide both sides by 5:
x = y + 2/5

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+7x+-+5y+=+2%2A%28+x+%2B+1+%29+
+7x+-+5y+=+2x+%2B+2+
Subtract +2x+ from both sides
+7x+-+2x+-5y+=+2+
Add +5y+ to both sides
+7x+-+2x+=+2+%2B+5y+
+5x+=+2+%2B+5y+
+x+=+2%2F5+%2B+y+

You can check by plugging
the answer back into the equation
+7x+-+5y+=+2%2A%28+x+%2B+1+%29+
+7%2A%28+2%2F5+%2B+y+%29+-+5y+=+2%2A%28++2%2F5+%2B+y+%2B+1+%29+
+14%2F5+%2B+7y+-+5y+=+4%2F5+%2B+2y+%2B+2+
+14%2F5+%2B+2y+=+10%2F5+%2B+4%2F5+%2B+2y+
Subtract +2y+ from both sides
+14%2F5+=+14%2F5+
OK
