You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Gabrielle worked two part-time jobs last week.
The first job paid $8 an hour, and the second job paid $12 an hour.
She worked a total of 27 hours last week and earned $272.
How many hours did Gabrielle work at the first job
-------------------
Hours Equation: f + s = 27
pay Equation: 8f + 12s = 272
----------------------
Modify both equations and solve for "f" and "s":
2f + 2s = 2*27
2f + 3s = 68
-----
s = 68-54 = 14 (hours worked on the second job)
solve for "f":
f + s = 27
f + 14 = 27
f = 13 (hours worked on the 1st job)
