You can put this solution on YOUR website! 31st term of 11, 8, 5, 2, -1. Help with simple language please. I'm only in eighth grade, so confused.
----
Your sequence is called an arithmetic sequence because each successive
term is formed by adding -3 to a term
1st: 11
2nd: 11+(-3) = 8
3rd:; 8+(-3) = 5
etc.
--------------------
The 1st term is called "a"
The constant term you add is called "d"
The number of each term is called "n"
---
The general formula for each term is a(n) = a + (n-1)d
---
So the 31st term is a + (30)d
= 11 + 30*(-3)
= 11 - 90
= -79
