Question 615015: Please provide an example of this question: What is the effect on the area of a triangle if the base is doubled and the height is cut in half? What happens to the area, if the base is doubled and the height remains the same? Please use 10 as the base . Thanks Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Try this! The original area. The new area when the base is doubled and the height is halved. = The area remains the same!
--------------------- The original area. = The area is doubled when the base is doubled but the height remains the same!
Using 10 for the base, ie, b = 10, we have: Substitute b = 10. Now double the base (2*10 = 20) and halve the height (h/2), we get: Simplify. The area remains the same!
----------------- Double the base (2*10 = 20) but leave the height alone. Simplify. The area is doubled!
If you want, you can use any number for the height but the results will be the same.
