Choose any point you like in the coordinate plane that is NOT on the boundary line. Substitute the coordinates of that point into the inequality. If the result is a true statement, shade in the side of the line that CONTAINS the point you selected. If the result is a false statement, shade in the side of the line that DOES NOT CONTAIN the selected point.
Hint: If the boundary line does not pass through the origin, then the origin is an excellent choice for a test point since that generally makes the arithmetic so much easier.
