You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The area of the den floor is 9*11 = 99 square feet

The area of the rug is 6*8 = 48 square feet

So the area that is NOT covered by the rug is 99 - 48 = 51 square feet

So there must be a typo somewhere, or there must be more to the problem (maybe the den is shaped in a different way?)

perhaps your confusion stems from the fact that there is no correct answer listed

the floor of the den is 9ft by 11ft, for an area of 99 ft^2

the rug is 6ft by 8ft, for an area of 48 ft^2

the difference (uncovered floor) is 51 ft^2 ___ that is NOT one of the choices
