The number of readers is 39000 which is 3 1/4 times as many as the none readers. 3 1/4 can be written as the improper fraction 13/4.
so 39000+=+%2813%2F4%29+%2A+non+readers Multiply each side by 4%2F13
39000%2A%284%2F13%29+=+%2813%2F4%29+%2A+non+readers%2A%284%2F13%29
12000=+non+readers
So the total movie goers are 39 000 + 12 000 = 51 000
