Question 611653: Can you please help me solve this?
Suppose you are working in a law firm as a paralegal. A client comes in that needs $1,000,000 estate distributed between the remaining family members: the wife, 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. If the will states that the wife is to receive twice as much as each child and that each child should receive three times as much as each grandchild, how much will each person receive?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let each grandchild have 1 share, for a total of 4 shares for the 4 grandchildren. Then each child would get 3 shares, for a total of 9 shares for the three children. Then the wife would get 2 times 3 is 6 shares for a total of 6 shares. 4 plus 9 plus 6 is 19, so the wife gets 6/19ths, each child gets 3/19ths, and each grandchild gets 1/19th, and 6/19 + 3(3/19) + 4(1/19) = 1.
