You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi CH Lam,
A ladder 6.54 metres long leans against a wall, touching a window sill, and makes an angle of 62° with the ground. Find the height of the window sill above the ground. How far is the foot of the ladder from the foot of the wall ?
:
Draw a right triangle, the ladder is the hypotenuse, the wall is the side opposite the angle with the ground, the distance frome the wall is the side adjacent to the angle with the ground.
:
angle with the ground=62
height of the wall=o
distance from the wall=a
The ladder is the hypotenuse=6.54 m
:
sin(x)=opposite/hypotenuse
The wall is about 5.774 m
:
cos(x)=adjacent/hypotenuse
The distance from the wall is 3.07 m.
:
Happy Calculating!!!
