: I always have trouble with these distance/height ones. Can anyone help me out?Thanks for any efforts.
When the soccer golie kicks a ball, the height (in feet) of the ball after t seconds is given by:
h(t)=-16t^2 + 64t.
How long before the ball hits the ground? This question is from textbook college algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! When the ball hits the ground, the ball will be at zero feet in height.
0 = -16t^2 + 64t
0 = t^2 - 4t
4 = (t - 2)^2
+- 2 = t - 2
2 +- 2 = t
t = 0 and t = 4
After four seconds, the ball will hit the ground respecting your formula.
