Question 6093: How would you complete each table of values?
Problems:
a. y/5 = x/2 - 5

x y
0
1
2
-1
-2

b. x = y/3 + 7

x y
0
2
4
-3
-4
Here are my answers (which were wrong)
a. y/5 = x/2 - 5
x y
0 3
1 4
2 3
-1 -6
-2 -7

b. x = y/3 + 7
x y
0 -7
2 5
4 4
-3 -4
-4 -3

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I would just plug the given values into the equations and solve for the variable., but first i would get rid of the denominator on the y term:
multiply by 5:
a. y/5 = x/2 - 5
y=5x/2-25
y=5(0)/2-25 = -25
y=5(1)/2-25 = -22 1/2
y=5(2)/2-25 = -20
y=5(-1)/2-25 = -27 1/2
y=5(-2)/2-25 = -30

multiply by 3:
b. x = y/3 + 7
then subtract 7 from both sides:
3x=y+7
3x-7=y
3( 0 )-7=-7
3( 2 )-7=-1
3( 4 )-7=5
3(-3 )-7=-16
3(-4 )-7=-19
