Question 607334: Bob’s Barber Shop estimates their gross revenue for the second quarter to be given by the polynomial 8x^3 – x^2 – 2x + 4. The shop estimates their costs for that quarter to be given by x^2 – 4x + 7. For the second quarter, find and simplify a polynomial that will represent their profit. Note: Profit = Revenue - Costs.
please show work for better understanding. thanks!
This makes the third time I've answered this one.
Subtract the cost polynomial from the revenue polynomial collecting like terms in the process.
You asked a word problem question. In the absence of any other information, I assume when asked a word problem question involving a certain algebra technique that you have learned and understand the underlying algebra but that you are having difficulty translating the problem into expressions and/or equations that you have learned to manipulate. If your problem was that you do not understand how to complete the process of subtracting one polynomial from the other, THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO IN THE FIRST PLACE?

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
