You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Total no. of marbles present in the Urn = 5+12+3 = 20
Now number of favorable cases(getting a black marble) = 12
so if one marble is selected,
the probability that it is black is = 12/20 = 3/5 = 0.6 Ans.

THE PROBABILITY OF AN EVENT IS THE NUMBER OF SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES DIVIDED BY THE TOTAL NUMBER OF OUTCOMES. 12 BLACK MARBLES IS 12 SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES. 5 PLUS 12 PLUS 3 IS 20 TOTAL OUTCOMES. ISN'T ALL CAPS ANNOYING? I JUST HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE IS SO LAZY AND RUDE THAT THEY CAN'T TURN THE CAPS LOCK OFF, DON'T YOU?
