You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the number = x
the number must be positive, because a difference must be a positive number

2x + x - 16 = x - (-32)
3x - 16 = x + 32
3x - x = 32 + 16
2x = 48
x = 48/2 = 24
or
2x + x - 16 = -32 - x
3x - 16 = -32 - x
3x + x = -32 + 16
4x = -16
x = -16/4 = -4

because the number must be positive, then the number is 24
