Solve for X:
(x+1)^2/3=8
take log of both sides
(2/3)log(x+1)=log8
log(x+1)=(3/2)log8≈1.3546
convert to exponential form
10^1.3546=x+1
22.6256=x+1
x=22.6256-1
x≈21.6256
