This sq rt x+31 = x + 1, we square both sides to get:
x+31 = (x + 1)^2
Expand out:
x+31 = x^2 + 2x + 1
rewrite as:
x^2+x-30=0
Factor:
(x+6)(x-5)=0
Solve for x
x=-6
x=5
Check to make sure both solutions work.
