Real numbers have infinitely many subsets.

If you mean the "double-stroke" letter subsets (complex, rationals, irrationals, integers, whole numbers, natural numbers -- ones denoted by double-stroked letters), -3 would be considered complex, rational, integer. It is not a whole number because whole numbers, by definition, are nonnegative.
