- 3/10 of the state went to his wife.
- each of his children recieved half as much as his wife.
- his brother recieved one sixth as much as his wife.
- the rest went to charity.
what dollar amount of his estate went to charity?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The wife gets 30%, the children each get 15%, and the brother gets 5%. You don't say how many children there are, but it must be more than one because you used the plural.
If 2 children:
If 3 children:
If 4 children:
The terms of the will cannot be fulfilled if 5 or more children so we must assume that there are 2, 3, or 4 children since you cannot have fractional parts of a child (despite what King Solomon was reported to have suggested).
Hence, the answer is either 35%, 20%, or 5% of the total amount of the estate. Do the arithmetic.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
