According to a man's will, his estate valued at $650.000 was settled according to the following conditions:
3/10 of the estate went to his wife.
each of his children recieved half as much as his wife.
his brother recieved one sixth as much as his wife.
the rest went to charity.
What dollar amount of his estate went to charity?

The wife gets 30%, the children each get 15%, and the brother gets 5%. You don't say how many children there are, but it must be more than one because you used the plural.
If 2 children:
\ +\ 5%\ =\ 65%)
If 3 children:
\ +\ 5%\ =\ 80%)
If 4 children:
\ +\ 5%\ =\ 95%)
The terms of the will cannot be fulfilled if 5 or more children so we must assume that there are 2, 3, or 4 children since you cannot have fractional parts of a child (despite what King Solomon was reported to have suggested).
Hence, the answer is either 35%, 20%, or 5% of the total amount of the estate. Do the arithmetic.
