Question 600630: 12/x=4 I understand the golden rule in this situation is to do the opposite. The opposite of division would be multiplication. I can figure out the answer when the variable is the numerator, but I get confused when the variable is the denominator. I know that x=3, but I need help on showing step by step how I got there. If y/6=2, times each side by 6, which would be 6y/6=2(6) or y=12. Going back to by problem it would be 144/x=48. I would appreciate it if someone could show me step by step when time allows.
