take the log of both sides:
log 2^(x+1) = log 9^x
(x+1) log 2 = xlog 9
xlog 2 + log 2 = xlog 9
log 2 = xlog 9 - xlog 2
log 2 = x(log 9 - log 2)
log 2/(log 9 - log 2) = x
0.461 = x
