I am doing a lot of porportions and I don't really know how you would know if you need to answer a ques. w a porportion or something else...
for ex. over the past week 34 baby boys were born at the hospital this was 54 percent of all the babies born. how many girls were born over the past week?
this ques. you would answer with a porportion but how do you know that you solve it with a porportion what signals in the ques. you need a porportion. I hope i made sense please help thank you so much

The girls have to be the other 46%
------
34:54::g:46 or
34/54 = g/46 same thing
----
Cross multiply
54g = 34*46
girls = 34*46/54
=~ 28.96 girls
-------
--> 29 girls, since it has to be a whole number.
