Question 598424: NO CALCULATIONS REQUIRED!!! Just tell whether or not you reject the null hypothesis and then write a vali conclusion.
1. when 200 convicted embezzelers were randomly selected, the mean length of prison was 22.1 months and the standard deviation was found to be 8.6 months. a candidate running for governor on a platform of tougher treatment for convicted criminals claims that the mean sentence for embezzelers is less than 2 years. Use significance level .05.
P-Value = .0010

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rule: If the p-value is less than the level of significance alpha, then you reject the null hypothesis. Otherwise, you fail to reject the null hypothesis

In this case, the p value is 0.0010 which is clearly less than the level of significance alpha = 0.05

So we reject the null hypothesis.

This allows us to conclude that the mean prison length is less than 2 years.

Note: the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis are,

Ho: mu = 2
Ha: mu < 2
