2y + 4x = 8 1
y + 2x = 1 2
Multiplying 2 with 2
2y+4x = 2 3
You will notice that 3 is very similar to 1 except that in the first equation the sum adds up to 8
and in the third equation the sum adds up to 2
How is that possible??
It isnt!!
So the system is Inconsistent!!
Alternatively, subtract 3 from 1
2y + 4x = 8
2y + 4x = 4
0 = 4 which is not possible. So you can say the system in Inconsistent.
