Easy way (but your teacher won't accept it!):
Take half of 79 and get 39.5 then
the answers are the two whole numbers
on each side of 39.5, which are 39 and 40.
Here's the way your teacher wants you to do it:
First integer = x
Next integer = x+1
Add them together with a plus sign and then write an = sign and 79:
x + x+1 = 79
Combine like terms
2x+1 = 79
Subtract 1 from both sides:
2x = 78
Divide both sides by 2:
=
x = 39
First integer = x = 39
Next integer = x+1 = 39+1 = 40

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let one of the integers be X.
Therefore,the second integer = X + 1
According to question:
X + (X + 1) = 79
i.e. X + X + 1 = 79
i.e. 2X + 1 = 79
i.e. 2X = 79 - 1
i.e. 2X = 78
i.e. X = 78/2
i.e. X = 39
So, the integers are X (i.e. 39) and (X + 1)
i.e.39 + 1
i.e. 40
So the required integers are 39 & 40
We can check the answer by adding the integers
39 + 40 = 79
