Question 59645: What is the difference between a dependant and an independant varible? And how do you determine the domain and the range of a function?
the following equation y=3x+2
Which is the domain of each and how would I determine it.
I have to explain this but I have no glue, this is new to me and I need some help. thank you Answer by funmath(2933) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! What is the difference between a dependant and an independant varible? And how do you determine the domain and the range of a function?
the following equation y=3x+2
Which is the domain of each and how would I determine it.
:
The independent variable is x.
The dependent variable is y.
The domain is what the independent variable (x) is allowed to be. For linear equations x can be anything. So the domain is all real numbers.
The range is what the dependent variable (y) will be as the result of the domain. For linear equations the range is also all real numbers.
Happy Calculating!!!
