You can put this solution on YOUR website! A company specializing in magazine sales over the telephone found that in 2500 phone calls, 360 resulted in sales and were made by male callers, and 480 resulted in sales and were made by female callers. If the company gets twice as many sales per call with a woman’s voice than with man’s voice, then how many of the 2500 calls were made by female?

LET CALLS MADE BY FEMALE =X
CALLS MADE BY MALE =2500-X
LET SUCCESS RATE WITH MALES = Y/CALL
SUCCESS RATE WITH FEMALES = 2Y/CALL
ORDERS FROM FEMALE CALLS = X*2Y=480.................1
ORDERS FROM MALE CALLS = (2500-X)Y=360...................2
EQN.1/EQN.2
2XY/(2500-X)Y=480/360 = 4/3
3*2X=(2500-X)4=10000-4X
6X+4X=10000
10X=10000
X=1000
HENCE 1000 CALLS WERE MADE BY FEMALES.
