You can put this solution on YOUR website! The ratio of females to males in a school band is 7 to 4 If three femails and twelve males are absent from practice, the ratio of females to males is 5 to 2 How many members of the band attend practice? ------------
 f:m = 7:4 = 7x:4x
 EQUATION:
 [7x-3]/[4x-12] = 5/2
 14x-6 = 20x-60
 6x=54
 x=9
 If the last question refers to number attending when the 3 females and
 12 males are missing the answer is:
 females: 7x-3=7*9-3=60
 males  : 4x-12=4*9-12=24
 For a total of 84
 --------------------------
 If all the millimeter cubes in one cubic meter are placed one on top of another to make a pole, what will be the height of the pole?
 1,000 millimeters in a meter
 one cubic meter is 1meter by 1meter by 1 meter
 Number of cubic millimeters is (1000*1000*1000)mm
 That is the height of the pole.
 Cheers,
 Stan H.
