You can put this solution on YOUR website!
find the distance and slope of (-5,2),(7,8)
:
The slope formula: m = %28y2-y1%29%2F%28x2-x1%29
Assign the values as follows
x1=-5; y1=2
x2=7; y2=8
:
m = %288-2%29%2F%287-%28-5%29%29
which is:
m = %288-2%29%2F%287%2B5%29 = 6%2F12 reduces to 1%2F2 is the slope
:
The distance formula: d = sqrt%28%28x2-x1%29%5E2%2B%28y2-y1%29%5E2%29
so we have:
d = sqrt%28%287-%28-5%29%29%5E2%2B%288-2%29%5E2%29
d = sqrt%28%2812%29%5E2%2B%286%29%5E2%29
d = sqrt%28144%2B36%29
d = sqrt%28180%29
d = 13.416 is the distance between these two points
