You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each month, John spends 2/5 of his income for food, 1/10 for clothing, 1/4 for housing, 1/20 for utilities, and deposits the remainder in his savings account. If he saves 450 a month, how much is his monthly income?
--------------
2/5 + 1/10 + 1/4 + 1/20 = 0.4 + 0.1 + 0.25 + 0.05
= 0.85
That leaves 0.15 of his income.
0.15*Income = 450
Income = 450/0.15
= $3000
