Question 584916: A plane takes off traveling east at 175mph. A jet takes off from the same airport, also traveling east, 2 hours later at 315 mph. When will the jet overtake the airplane? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
In the first 2 hours, the (presumably non-jet) plane will have travelled 350 miles (2 hours times 175 mph). The jet is travelling 315 minus 175 = 140 mph faster. How long will it take to cover 350 miles at 140 mph?
