You can put this solution on YOUR website! My son has a word problem that I haven't been able to help him with.
Tickets for a dance were $8 in advance(SAY A IN NUMBER) and $10 at the door
(SAY D IN NUMBER). There were 400 tickets sold
HENCE A+D=400...............1
VALUE OF A TICKETS @ 8 $ = 8A
VALUE OF D TICKETS @ 10 $ = 10D
TOTAL VALUE = 8A+10D
for a total sales amount of $3580.
8A+10D=3580.....................2
EQN.2-8*EQN.1 GIVES
8A+10D-8A-8D=3580-8*400=3580-3200=380
2D=380
D=190
A=400-190=210
How many tickets were sold at the door? (He has to show all steps to the answer) Thank you for any help you can offer.
