Question 584364: This is confusing. I am not sure how to work this problem step by step. Would Someone please explain this to me?
Trains A and B are traveling the same direction on parallel tracks.
Train A is traveling at 80 mph and train B is traveling at 90 mph.
Train A passes the train station at 12:15 pm.
If train B passes it at 12:45pm, at what time will train B catch up to train A.
When will train B catch up to Train A? What time?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The trains leave 30 minutes apart.
but the second train is going faster.
80*(x+.5)=90x
80x+40=90x
40=10x
4=x
They will meet after 4 hours or at 4:15 pm
80*4.5 =360 miles
90*4=360 miles
