Question 58297: How do I solve -4x+8 / 2?
When I solved the problem the first time I got 2x+1 but that did not look right then when I tried to solve it a second time I seperated them into two problems.
-4x over 2 plus 8 over 2 = 2x.
Which is the correct way to solve this problem? I am very confused:(

%28%28-4x%2B8%29+%2F+2%29 [Set the equation equal to zero]
%28+%28-4x%2B8%29+%2F+2%29=0%29+%29[Multiply each side by 2]
%28+%28%282%29%28-4x%2B8%29+%2F+2%29%29=%282%29%280%29%29+
%28+%28-4x%2B8%29%29=0%29+
%28+%28-4x%2B8-8%29%29=0-8%29+
%28+%28-4x%29%29=-8%29+
%28+%28-4x%2F-4%29%29=-8%2F-4%29+
%28x%29=2%29+
.
Check by plugging (x=2) back into the original equation.
