I think you meant x+5 to be all in the exponent.
3%5E%28x%2B5%29=9%5Ex
3%5E%28x%2B5%29=%283%5E2%29%5Ex
3%5E%28x%2B5%29=3%5E%282x%29 Once the bases are the same, you can equate their exponents.
x+5=2x
-x+x+5=2x-x
5=x
