let the common multiple be x
their ages will be 4x & 5x repectively
After 6 years
their ages will be 4x+6 & 5x+6 repectively
%284x%2B6%29%2F%285x%2B6%29=+5%2F6

Cross multiply
6(4x+6)=5(5x+6)
24x+36=25x+30
bring the variables on one side
24x-25x=30-36
-x=-6
so x=6
Venu's age = 4x = 4*6 = 24 years
Renu's age = 5x=5*6=30 years
