| Question 579793: How do you use a graphing calculator to graph f(x)=x^7-2x^5 on an interval of (-2,2)? I am unfamiliar with my ti-83 graphing calculator, and do not know how to plug this in. Also, I do not know how to find the max and min. Can you please help me to understand how to do this?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! How do you use a graphing calculator to graph f(x)=x^7-2x^5 on an interval of (-2,2)? I am unfamiliar with my ti-83 graphing calculator, and do not know how to plug this in.
 -------------------------------
 Keys will be in CAPS; Instructions will be in lower case:
 I assume you have the computer ON.
 To graph x^7-2x^5
 Y=
 x^7-2x^5
 WINDOW
 X-Min=-2
 X-Max=2
 Y-Min=-10
 Y-Max=10
 GRAPH
 Also, I do not know how to find the max and min.
 -------------------------
 2ND/CALC (press 2nd then Calc
 3:Minimum
 Move cursor to the left of the visible minimum by watching
 the y-values.
 ENTER
 Move cursor to the right of the visible minimum by watching
 the y-values.
 ENTER
 ENTER
 You should see x = -0.2553; y = -0.0021 as the minimum point.
 ========================
 2ND/CALC (press 2nd then Calc
 4:Maximum
 Move cursor to the left of the visible maximum by watching
 the y-values.
 ENTER
 Move cursor to the right of the visible maximum by watching
 the y-values.
 ENTER
 ENTER
 You should see x = -1.1952; y=1.3939
 ==========
 Use the same procedure to determine other minimums
 or maximums.
