Question 579754: I seeded both peppers and tomatoes using a total of 120 seeds. Write an equation to show this: P + T = 120
I sowed 9 times as many tomatoe seeds as pepper seeds. Write an equation to show this: Would it be 9T + P = 120 or 9P + P = 120
How many tomatoe seeds and pepper seeds did I plant?
How do I solve this?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The equation +P+%2B+T+=+120+
is still true, so you can't change this.
The new information is +T+=+9P+
( lots more tomato seeds compared to pepper seeds )
Now I can say:
+P+%2B+9P+=+120+
+10P+=+120+
+P+=+12+
and, since
+T+=+9P+
+T+=+9%2A12+
+T+=+108+
You planted 12 pepper seeds and 108 tomato seeds
