Question 5795: Okay - today I am stuck with linear equations.... I have solved the equation, but something is not right becasue when I go to substitute into the equation, it does not equal.... Please help!! Thanks!
Here's the first:
-5z-3-4(z+1)=2z+6
I solved it and came up with -13/11. This however does not check.
and number two:
-3[-6p+4-5(p-1)=-2p-5
I solved this and came up with -8/35. Again, this will not check.
Finally number three:
2p=5(2p+5)
I solved this and came up with -8/25. And you guessed it, this did not check.
HELP!!! I believe I solved them correctly, but why are they not checking???
Cartoon (animation) form: For tutors: simplify_cartoon( -5z-3-4*(z+1)=2z+6 )

Done!
as you can see, the solution is +13/11.
Your second equation has a '[' in it that does not close, so I cannot guess what you meant.
