Question 578528: help with the solving part: |3x - 1| + |x - 2| < x + 2
its easy to put it into a graph and get the correct answer (1/5 and 1) but when I actually try to solve it out algerbraically I get 1/3
so I'm not sure where I'm doing it wrong Answer by mrjunecarlo1095@ymail.com(10) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let:
......-x-2 < |3x-1| + |x-2| < x+2
........-x-2 < |4x-3| < x+2
..........-2+3 < 4x < 2+3
Solve each side
.-x-2 < |4x-3|.............|4x-3| < x+2
....-5x >-1.................... 3x < 5
......x > 1/5....................x < 5/3
1 is not an applicable answer. The answer is with in an interval of 1/5 < x < 5/3.
