You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The ratio of the greatest length of lake Erie to the greatest length of lake Michigan is 5:6.
E/M = 5/6
What is the length of each, if lake michigan is 50 miles longer than lake erie?
----
Let length of Erie be "x"
Then length of Mich is "x+50"
-------
Equation:
x/(x+50) = 5/6
6x = 5x + 250
x = 250 miles (length of Lake Erie)
x+50 = 300 miles (length of Lake Michigan)
